A: A majority of chemicals and pesticides used on our fruits and vegetables are water insoluble and therefore difficult to remove. These chemicals if ingested regularly can be harmful especially to children.

A: Household soaps or detergents contain chemicals that are harmful if ingested. There's also a high possibility of the detergents penetrating the skin of produce, making complete rinsing impossible.
